Sign-off for User Acceptance Testing, everyone has a part for it

Yesterday was the day of the user acceptance testing. Surprised that the main stakeholders, the Account Manager and IT Manager were not attending the sign-off conference call.

Sign-off criteria is one of the important element in any testing activities. The motive is to ensure the required testing scopes are covered, the understanding of the testing objectives and what need to achieve at the end of the testing cycle. To go further, we need to identify the rightful testers or stakeholders who might have the influence to the outcome of the test results to be involved in the testing phase at all times, progressively update on the defects and solutions to them. Without them, everyone could end up in multiple testings at nowhere not to mention the defect fixing period to allow the developers to plan and schedule the next build schedule to push in new codes for the fixes.

Back to the reality, today call was indeed a sign-off meeting but our 2 Managers were not around. Moreover, a discussion with the Contract Manager that both of us feel uncomfortable not only on the new solution, but with a couple of serious issues in Production. Having to put the Company’s liability on the table, I have to voice up the current situation and hope to bring everyone back to the table to review the current situation, assess and define the appropriate actions to ensure smooth delivery of the solution to the Customer. No one will want to deliver a poor quality solution that may affect the Company’s reputation and services.

Right now, we all have to wait for the 2 Managers to return back to office on Monday to understand how to move forward. :)
